UCM is Very Proud of Sonia Domarasky!
Sonia, a bookkeeper with UCM, has been awarded “Client of the Month,” a.k.a Champ, for three consecutive months by her gym, Team Animal Fitness, located in Boonsboro, Maryland. With the help of her personal trainer Chip, she is the first female to win the gym’s Championship belt and the first person to hold the belt for 3 consecutive months. This is quite an achievement for Sonia, who has dedicated the past 4+ years to getting healthy again after struggling with being over 300 pounds.
It all started over 4 years ago when she was dealing with her weight, health issues and raising her children as a single mother. She was motivated to make a change and lost 50 pounds on her own. She began working toward a healthier lifestyle by learning to eat better quality foods and exercising; but she realized in order to reach her true health and fitness goals she needed professional help. A friend recommended Lester “Chip” Gerber, a professional trainer and MMA fighter and grappler, and the rest is history.
Sonia has been working with Chip as her personal trainer and mentor ever since. He helped her transform her body. The transformation began the first day she walked into his gym at 253 pounds with no self-esteem. He taught her about health, fitness and proper nutrition, and he helped her achieve every goal and challenge she set for herself, including marathons and a Tough Mudder competition.
Sonia remains motivated to this day and goes to the gym daily for her own workouts, while also working for the gym to help others reach their goals. She feels the gym staff does a great job motivating everyone to work hard and to compete to become their “Champ” each month, which includes recording weight daily, keeping workout logs and food journals, along with weekly check-ins. In Sonia’s words, “It’s a lot of hard work and discipline. Everyone wants to be named the “Champ”. There is a lot of great competition and everyone works so hard. I have 10 pounds left to go to reach my final goal weight. So perhaps I can hold onto the belt a few more months. My Motto is “#HWPO” (Hard work pays off)!”
